In Memoriam - John Simon We were saddened to hear of the sudden death in September 2025 of John, one of our branch members. He was born in 1945 and brought up in Gainsborough. In his younger days he enjoyed amateur dramatics. In his working life he was Manager of Halifax Building Society branches in Bridlington and latterly in Louth. In retirement he kept active with voluntary work including at Age Concern. He enjoyed football and was a season ticket holder at Grimsby Town. John joined CAMA in 2016 at the Sheffield Steel City Beer Festival and this became an annual day out over the years, always starting with a pie and a pint at the Fat Cat! Lincoln Beer Festival was another favourite along with festivals at Newark, Gainsborough and York. He enjoyed a couple of pints and a catch up at Willys on a Tuesday lunchtime with his good friend Dave Brydges and a monthly get together with friends, either locally or perhaps a bus trip to Louth's pubs. John's former occupation led him to be the ideal person to manage the beer kitty! In memory of John a few of us attended this year's Sheffield Beer Festival and raised a glass to him. RIP John, a lovely man who will be missed. Larry Leveller
