Wetherspoon Beer Festival
Beer and Cheers Mark Busy Day for Local Pub Enthusiasts
It was a day of celebration for pub-goers and real ale drinkers, as a packed schedule saw the launch of a beer festival in Grimsby and the presentation of an award to a popular Cleethorpes venue.
The day's events kicked off in Grimsby as the historic Yarborough Hotel, a listed building adjacent to Grimsby Town train station, hosted the opening session of a beer festival starting at 3:00 p.m. Patrons were invited to sample a wide array of local and guest ales to mark the start of the autumn season.
The Yarborough Hotel, known for its Italianate style architecture and links to the town's Victorian port era, provided a fittingly historic setting for the event. The celebrations didn't stop at Grimsby, as attention then turned to Cleethorpes. The Coliseum Picture Theatre, a J D Wetherspoon pub with a rich history as a former cinema, snooker hall, and nightclub, was presented with its Pub of the Summer certificate. The award is for the pub's commitment to quality beer, excellent service, and its distinct atmosphere, which features a Roman theme in a nod to the building's original name. The Coliseum, a local landmark on High Street, Cleethorpes, was recognised for providing a top-quality experience throughout the summer months.
